What is plug-in solar, exactly?

It's a small solar system you can set up yourself in an afternoon — no electrician, no utility approval, no roof required.

☀️

Solar panels on your terms

One or two panels — usually 400W each — sit on your balcony railing, lean against a wall, or lay in your backyard. Wherever gets sun.

A microinverter does the work

A small device (like the APsystems EZ1) converts the panel's DC power into regular AC electricity your home can use.

🔌

Plug into a standard outlet

A special safety cable connects the microinverter to your wall outlet. Power flows into your home's circuit and offsets whatever you're drawing from the grid.

📉

Your meter actually goes down

Every watt you generate is a watt you don't buy. A 800W system can realistically cut $20–$50/month off your electric bill, depending on your rates and sunlight.

How it works

The whole system takes a few hours to set up. If you can hang a TV mount, you can do this.

1

Buy a kit

Panel(s) + microinverter + cables + plug cord. A few companies sell these bundled. Or build your own from components.

2

Mount your panels

Balcony railing, roof edge, ground mount, or window sill. Wherever you've got unshaded sun for most of the day.

3

Connect the inverter

Cables from panel to microinverter. Takes five minutes. No tools required beyond a hand tightening.

4

Plug it in

The inverter's output cord goes into your nearest outlet. Your home immediately starts using the solar power you're generating.
